Information indicates that the new, yet to be named Nintendo console is expected to enter into production at the end of Q1 2016. Foxconn Electronics has apparently been chosen to manufacture the console.
The new Nintendo console is expect to ship 10-12 million units in 2016 according to the upstream supply chain, but Nintendo is hoping to ship 20 million units. For a bit of perspective, PS4 is expected to ship 18 million units in 2016, Xbox One is expected to ship 13 million units in 2016. With Nintendo themselves expecting to surpass the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016, their goal is more than just a little lofty.
The Nintendo Wii U was a step back in terms of success and sales so this new console will be an important release. There is no shortage of innovation in terms of controllers and games so there could be some interesting surprises as new information comes to light.
